New Helldivers 2 Leaks Show Illuminate Weapons and Enemies

Leaks reveal new beam weapons and enemy types coming to Helldivers 2’s Illuminate faction. The discoveries come from game files, though no release date is confirmed.

New Beam Weapons

Leaker Iron_S1ghts found three beam weapons in the game files and shared footage of two being tested. The beams fire in quick bursts instead of continuous streams.

The first beam does minimal electrical damage but stuns targets. The second beam wasn’t fully detailed in the footage. Iron_S1ghts called the third beam “more interesting” but didn’t share specifics.

It’s unclear if these will be player weapons or Illuminate tools. Players worry about facing them either way.

New Illuminate Enemies

Two new enemy types are coming to challenge players.

The Outcast works as both sniper and assassin. It teleports into battle with dual blades or stays back for long-range shots. It can also lunge at players and phase around the battlefield quickly.

The Xenobite is a faster version of the Overseer with less health. It moves extremely fast using the same phasing ability as the Outcast, becoming temporarily invulnerable while moving.

Leaks also show an “Illuminate Cultist Warp Gate” as an alternative to current warp ships.

These are just leaks with no confirmed release date.

Chinese News Covers Helldivers 2

Chinese broadcaster Kanka News featured Helldivers 2 on their Good Morning Shanghai program. They praised players for defending Equality-On-Sea during the Illuminate invasion.

The report highlighted how Chinese players fought during the day while American players took night shifts. Anchors called it “great unity” between players from both countries.

Some controversy arose when players couldn’t push the city’s defense to 100%. Translation issues made Chinese players think they could fully liberate cities during the invasion, which wasn’t possible due to constant enemy reinforcements.

Sony Removes Region Locks

Sony lifted Helldivers 2’s regional restrictions in most blocked countries. Only 8 countries now can’t buy the game, down from 177.

The restricted countries are Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Japan, North Korea, Russia, Syria, and Vietnam.

This reverses Sony’s decision from last year during the PSN account controversy. Back then, Sony removed the game from 177 countries after players protested the PSN requirement.

The community is organizing to change old negative reviews left due to region blocks. A Reddit post with 5.6k upvotes asks players to convert their negative reviews to positive ones.

No immediate surge in positive reviews has happened yet, but recent reviews acknowledge Sony’s policy change.

What’s Next

These changes come as Helldivers 2 prepares for the Force of Law Warbond release. The leaked Illuminate content could arrive with future updates, though timing remains unclear.

The region unlock should help the game reach more players worldwide.
